Role of the Buyer

As a Buyer, you will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of materials and components crucial to our innovative products. You will be responsible for ensuring that we have a reliable supply chain, high quality materials, and cost-effective purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities

As Buyer you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, adherence to Verlume procurement policies, and alignment with project and production schedules
  • Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers
  • Managing, monitoring, and updating Verlume Approved Vendor List
  • Screening suppliers and carrying out supplier audits as part of AVL process
  • Building strong relationships with key suppliers
  • Monitoring and assessing supplier performance to ensure quality and on-time deliveries.
  • Analysing costs, negotiating favourable terms, and seeking opportunities for cost reductions without compromising quality
  • Collaboration with the operations team to ensure that purchased materials meet the required quality standards
  • Collaboration with the operations team to maintain an optimal inventory level by tracking and managing stock
  • Proactively addressing and resolving quality issues with suppliers
  • Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, communications with suppliers and purchase orders

 

 

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and behaviours:

  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related role, preferably in a technology or manufacturing setting
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, principle, and best practices.
  • Negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with procurement software and tools
  • Detail-orientated and analytical mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills with the flexibility to adapt as priorities change
  • A proactive approach, with an ability to see areas for improvement and act on them
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • A positive and professional attitude with a high level of customer service
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent qualifications or experience.
